The Da Vinci Code

I am sure many of you would have read it or at least would have watched the film. Then why am I writing about it? Simply because I could not resist myself in writing about the one of the best thrillers, I have ever read, The Da Vinci code.

The book might have been known to many for a wrong reason of the conspiracy theory of married Jesus Christ. But if you read the book, you would understand the book is not just about the conspiracy.

The conspiracy is just the base for the plot – like Illuminati in Angels and Demons. The story starts with the curator of the famous Louvre museum in paris, found dead with some ciphers written by him. Our hero Robert Langdon and granddaughter of the curator are trying to solve the cipher and in doing that they came to know that the biggest conspiracy, that would stun the whole Christianity world, is indeed true.

Unlike Angels and demons, here the pace starts at the moment the killing happens. When the Paris police call upon Robert Langdon saying, they need the expert advice in deciphering the code left by the curator, I thought it is just like Angels and demons (Yes, unlike many I read angels and demons first. I just wanted to go in the same order the books were written).  But when it was revealed that Robert Langdon is the prime suspect, it got me by surprise.

This book made me a great fan of Dan Brown and I bought his all the other books and read once I completed this.

Although the book goes in lightning pace, Dan Brown doesn’t miss to tell us about some misconceptions and the architectural beauty of places through Langdon, just like he did in Angels and demons.

Also, some fascinating information about Leonardo Da Vinci and his various paintings like Mono Lisa, The Last Supper, Vitruvian Man and Virgin of the Rocks are something you will hardly see in any of the blockbuster thrillers like this one.

Dan Brown’s interest on the secret societies continues in this book also. In this the society is Priory of Sion. According to Dan Brown, his all time favorite Newton was a grand master of this society during his period. Also there was information about Knights Templar.

If you are a book freak, you would have already read it. If not, this is something you will never want to miss.

Movie adaptation of this book is much better compared to Angels and Demons. But still when you read the book first, you will always feel the book is much better than the film version. Very few films like the Lord of the Rings have done the justification to the book, unfortunately The da vinci code movie did not fall under this category.

My rating for this book is ★★★★★
